Enchanted Arms (2006) Review

Enchanted Arms is an action adventure role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Ubisoft. It was released in Japan in 2006 and in North America and Europe in 2007. The game follows the story of Atsuma, a young man who discovers a magical weapon known as the Enchanted Arm. With the help of his friends, Atsuma must use the Enchanted Arm to defeat the evil forces that threaten the world.

Gameplay

Enchanted Arms is a linear storyline with a somewhat open world to travel through and explore. Along with 4 main playable characters mix your team up with over 100 collectable creatures scattered throughout the game. The game uses a turn-based battle system with each side on its own 3 by 4 square grid area across from each other. Characters can move a set number of squares on the grid each turn and skills have different area of effect patterns.

Story

The story of Enchanted Arms is set in the world of Yggdra, a land where humans and monsters live in harmony. However, this harmony is threatened by the rise of the evil sorcerer, Galbalan. Galbalan seeks to use the power of the Enchanted Arm to conquer Yggdra and plunge it into darkness.

Atsuma, a young man from the village of Elwynn, is chosen to wield the Enchanted Arm and stop Galbalan. Atsuma is joined on his quest by his friends, Elwin, a skilled swordsman; Alys, a powerful sorceress; and Raimi, a skilled archer.

Together, Atsuma and his friends must travel across Yggdra, defeat Galbalan’s forces, and restore peace to the land.

Characters

• Atsuma: The protagonist of the game, Atsuma is a young man from the village of Elwynn. He is chosen to wield the Enchanted Arm and stop Galbalan.
• Elwin: A skilled swordsman, Elwin is one of Atsuma’s closest friends. He is always ready to fight for what is right.
• Alys: A powerful sorceress, Alys is another one of Atsuma’s closest friends. She is always willing to use her magic to help those in need.
• Raimi: A skilled archer, Raimi is the final member of Atsuma’s party. He is a bit of a loner, but he is always there for his friends when they need him.

Graphics

The graphics in Enchanted Arms are impressive for a game released in 2006. The character models are well-detailed and the environments are lush and vibrant. The game also features some impressive special effects, such as the spells cast by the characters and the explosions caused by the Enchanted Arm.

Sound
